CORPORATE CONTRACTORS FUND DRIVE

As most of the people who have followed our progress know, the goal of the organization is to provide a mobile LST able to return to the cities where LSTs were built and to travel to other locations. We are trying to start this next summer. It is estimated that about $1.4 million will be needed to get the ship in compliance with Coast Guard regulations and make it suitable to host visitors. Over the past several months, CAPT Jornlin has been working with several other crewmembers on a fund drive targeted to the companies who originally helped to build LSTs. Data taken from the 325’s Ship’s Office totalled about 165 companies that provided manuals on various pieces of equipment. We have been able to track down current names and addresses on almost exactly 100 of those 165 companies.

Within the next month or so, we expect to mail out solicitations to these 100 companies. Letters will be addressed to the Chairman of the Board, President, or General Manager. Each will be accompanied with 20 pages of background information including such things as our Mission, our Board and Officers, a history of LSTs, our financials detailing how the money will be spent, a story about the return from Crete, our IRS Determination Letter, etc. If you know of an influential person at one of these companies, it would be appreciated if you can encourage them to seriously consider our request.
