| DOCKING INFORMATION
ADDED TO ITINERARY 26 May 2003 There have been several requests for specific docking location information. This information is now included in the itinerary below. Granted, it's somewhat vague, but hopefully it will provide some help. As always, please continue to monitor this website (especially this page), as well as local news media. |
| NEW BROCHURE
AVAILABLE FOR THE RIVER TRIP!
We now have a brochure available for the 2003 River Trip. We strongly urge all of our friends and supporters to distribute copies as widely as possible, especially in those areas through which the ship will pass and in the ports-of-call. This brochure is available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. You can get a copy by shift-clicking here. Or, if you prefer, you can simply click on that link and it will open in Acrobat Reader and you can save it from there. The two pages are opposite sides of a tri-fold brochure. They may easily be printed on your home computer. But, if you're willing to "go the extra mile," you can have them produced in quantity (and probably better quality) at any commercial copy or printing shop. You might even wish to ask them if they'd be willing to donate their services (tax-deductible)! If they agree, simply have them email WebSkipper@LSTMemorial.org for documentation. Many thanks go to Lee Adams, who painstakingly produced these professional-quality
brochures!

| RADIO STATION
TO OPERATE DURING THE VOYAGE
Bob Wilder, who has been heavily involved in our Radio Room Restoration Project, reports that we will be operating an amateur radio station during the voyage. It will operate under the special call sign WW2LST. Tom Pendarvis, W0MTP, from Ballwin, MO, will operate from the Jackson Carter Memorial Radio Room from Mobile to St. Louis, and from Paducah back to Mobile. During the trip, Tom will help out in the galley when away from the radio room. Once the trip is completed, cards confirming contacts (QSL cards) will be sent out to all those contacted during the trip. Tom will also operate as NNN0CCG on Navy/MC MARS frequencies. He will check into the Maritime Mobile Service Net on 14300.00 several times a day to announce what frequencies we will be working. So far, 40 cw and 20 cw and 20 phone are working good. Rene Steigler will also be aboard from Mobile to Vicksburg helping to get the WWII radio equipment operational. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FOR CREW AND FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY! An email address has been set up for crew mail: lst325@wloradio.com. Messages sent to this address must be text only, with no HTML. Also, do not include original messages when replying. This circuit is extremely slow, at only 200 baud. Voice arrangements have also been made. You can call wloradio at 251-666-5110 and be routed to the ship. PLEASE! We are relying upon the general public, news media, etc. to respect these special arrangements, which are designed for crew and their families only. They have been donated by WLO, and all calls and emails will be screened for legitimacy before transmission to the ship. If they wind up being abused in any manner, you will likely deprive the crews and families of their contacts. Please respect this. |
Proposed Itinerary
Posted 06 May 2003Following is the currently-envisioned itinerary for the 2003 Voyage. As there are a multitude of variables involved in a project of this magnitude, it must be emphasized that this itinerary is still subject to review and revision. If you make personal plans based upon this schedule, you will be wise to allow yourself some flexibility and latitude.
